Le Vat Phou, vestige de la période angkorienne,
est situé sur les flancs du mont Pasak, à
quelques kilomètres de la ville de Champassack.
Construit en terrasses, le chemin qui conduit à
la montagne est bordée de frangipanniers.
De novembre à avril, départs
de Paksé tous
les samedi, mardi et jeudi. De Mai à Septembre, départs
les mardi pour la remontée (option 2) et tous les samedi
pour la descente (option 1).

| The
mystical Vat Phou temple is nestled on the lower slope
of the Phou Pasak range, a few kilometers from the town
of Champassak. This important Khmer monument which dates
back to the 10th and 13th century is a magnificent site.
It consists of a series of terraces arranged at the
foot of a mountain which rises up like a pyramid and
is lined with fragrant plumeria, the national tree of
Laos.
The temple is still in remarkable condition and is widely
regarded as one of the most outstanding examples of
Khmer architecture still in existence, the veiw from
the sanctuary on the top across the Mekong plain, ringed
by mountains is a truly breathtaking experience.
From November to
April, depart every Saturday, Tuesday
and Thursday.
From May to October, depart every Tuesday for cruise
Up & every Saturday for cruise Down.
No operation (dry dock) in June.

Cruise Down River : From Paksé to the "Niagara
of the East".

1 : Vat Phou
 Départ
de Paksé vers 10h30 vers Champassack à
bord du Vat Phou. Déjeuner à Champassack
suivi d'une visite guidée du site pré-angkorien,
du Xème siècle, Vat Phou ou Temple montagne.
Retour sur le bateau à la nuit tombante. Le
dîner sera servi à bord.

Day 1 : The majestic
temple Vat Phu
Early morning
(10h30) departure from Pakse for Champassak, aboard
a local long tail riverboat, zigzagging through mild
rapids and sand banks, arriving at Champassak in time
for a riverside lunch, followed by a guided tour of
the pre-Angkorian 10th century temple of Vat Phou,
the boat's namesake. As dusk falls board the Vat Phou
for a relaxing cruise down-river, enjoying the tropical
sunset on the deck. Dinner is served on board, while
the boat docks for the night alongside a remote Laotian
village.

2 : de Oum Moung à l'île de Khong
Petit déjeuner à bord
avant d'accoster au village Huei Thamo, situé
à quelques minutes à pied du temple de
Oum Moung, protégé dans la forêt
laotienne. Retour sur le bateau pour reprendre la descente
du fleuve vers le Sud. Déjeuner sur le pont restaurant
et promenade à travers des "4000 îles",
puis arrêt sur l'île principale, l'île
de Khong et visite du village de Muang Khong. Retour
à bord lors du coucher du soleil et dîner
sous les étoiles en écoutant le chant
typique des crapaud-buffles. |

Day 2 : Oum Moung Temple
& Khong Island
Breakfast on board as we set
sail for the village of Huei Thamo, a few minutes
walk away from the spectacular hidden forest temple
of Oum Moung. Afterwards rejoin the boat for a cruise
southwards and lunch on the deck, while we continue
further south to the wild paradise of the "4,000
islands". we visit Khong Island and the village
of Muang Kong, where the traditional way of life has
not changed in centuries. Back on board for a sunset
cruise and dinner under the stars, serenaded by the
songs of the buffalo toads.

2 : Chutes de Khone, 'Niagara oriental"
Petit déjeuner sur le pont et
descente vers le petit village de Veuthong. Transbordement
sur un ferry permettant de rejoindre le continent afin
d'admirer les chutes de Khone Phapheng, le Niagara de
l'extrême orient, situées à la frontière
du Cambodge. A Xieng Di, un bateau "long tail"
assurera le transfert vers l'île de Khone où
vous pourrez découvrir les dauphins du Mékong.
Visite de cette île pleine de charme où
l'on retrouve quelques anciennes bâtisses coloniales
françaises. Retour vers Paksé. Arrivée
vers 16h. |

Day
3 : The "Niagara of the East"
 Breakfast
on deck, while cruising to the small village of Ban
Veuthong, where we board a local car-ferry to reach
the mainland and the amazingly scenic Khong Pha Peng
waterfall, "the Niagara of the East", close
to the Cambodian border. On arrival at the small fishing
village of Xieng Di, we will board a small long-tail
boat to Khone Island, where you might see one of the
rare river dolphins on the way! We have lunch amid the
by-gone splendor of another age; colorful French colonial
houses and an old customs post. Drive back to Pakse,
with arrival at about 4 p.m. |

Depuis Paksé, descente du
fleuve jusqu'aux chutes de Khone Phapheng, le "Niagara
oriental". Visite du village de pêcheur de
Xieng Di. Traversée en petit bateau vers l'île
de Khone. Déjeuner sur place. Transfert vers
l'île principale, Khong, en ferry. Visite du village
de Veuthong et retour sur le bateau pour reprendre le
cours de votre croisière à l'heure du
coucher du soleil. |

Day 1: Pakse & the
"Niagara of the East"
On arrival at Pakse, drive to the spectacular roaring
falls of Khone Pha Pheng, the "Niagara of the
East" and the fishing village of Xieng Di, where
you will board a longtail boat for a visit to Khone
Island and lunch. From here, by longtail boat and
car ferry to the Khong Island village of Ban Veuthong,
where you will board the waiting Vat Phou for a sunset
cruise and dinner, docked riverside for the night.

du Vat Phou. Croisière sur le fleuve en direction
de l'île de Khong. A khong, trajet en bus pour
une visite guidée de l'île et du village
de Muong Khong où la vie ne semble pas avoir
changé depuis des siècles. Retour sur
le bateau en fin d'après-midi. Déjeuner
sur le pont tandis que le bateau remonte vers l'île
de Don Daeng, puis vers le village et Huei Thamo. Visite
du mystérieux temple de Oum Moung, caché
dans la forêt. Retour sur le bateau et dîner
sous les étoiles. |

Day 2: Khong Island
& Oum Moung Temple
 Breakfast
on board Vat Phou as we set sail for Khong Island.
There we board a bus for a guided tour of the village
of Muang Kong, where life has remained unchanged for
centuries. Afterward rejoin the boat for a cruise
northwards and lunch on the deck. We continue our
leisurely sail further north to the island of Don
Daeng, to visit the village of Huei Thamo and the
mysterious Oum Moung forest temple, just a few minutes
walk way. Dinner. "Under the stars", aboard
Vat Phou.

3 : Le Vat Phou
 Petit
déjeuner à bord. Descente du fleuve vers
le village de Vat Luang Kao. Trajet en bus vers le site
du Vat Phou, site pré-angkorien du Xème
siècle. Arrivée à Champassack à
l'heure du déjeuner. Retour sur le bateau. Reprise
du voyage jusqu'à Paksé avec une arrivée
prévue vers 16h.

3: The majestic temple Vat Phou
While enjoying
breakfast on board, the Vat Phou continues its cruise
to Ban Wat Luang Kao, where you will join a guided tour
by bus to the tenth century pre-Angkorian temple of
Vat Phou, after which you will return by bus to Champassak
in time for lunch, and the final cruise to Pakse, with
arrival scheduled for around 4:00 pm.
